Collection of violins at home: 1/16, 1/4, 1/2, 1/4 fractional violins

🅰️received this antique violin as a gift from his dad’s good friend in Hong Kong. The maker, origin, and age of this gorgeously aged violin are unknown. The violin produces a warm mellow tone. A few minor things were then repaired by local Ottawa Luthier Olivia Pelling at Fine Strings. A set of Knilling Perfection Pegs was also added. Olivia also re-haired 🅰️’s other violin bow.

🅰️received this vintage Knilling Pietro Bellini violin from his mom. It’s his first full size violin and comes with Knilling Perfection pegs which make tuning a lot easier. It produces crisp, clear sound with a stunning back piece. It was said to be Italian made from the 1980s.

🅰️’s newer G. Werner Pernambuco violin bow was purchased from Louise at Strings and Things at a very affordable price. The violin strings were mostly purchased from The Sound Post, which offers a good selections of strings and accessories including the sought-after well-priced Goldbrokat E String. Luthier David Doyle was very nice to hand polish the Wittner Hill style fine tuner for us, so it won’t cut the E string that easily.

The family’s RCM Repertoire books were mostly purchased from Leading Note. Some of the RCM books were bought with good discount.

The family occasionally has fractional sized violins up for sale when youngest member has out-grown it. The 1/16 and 1/8 are in good hands of other young violinists, and the 1/4 will be available for sale in 2021.
